So its finally time to get ride of the "hyper-shackles" while the car is outta action for re-wiring. So now i have to figure out, when re-locating the shackle mounts, whats the best way to find the correct spot for a 45 degree angle. Im planning on grinding the welds off the shackle mounts, and just sliding them forward (with new mounts) and re-weldin them on. Also, i just learned how to stick weld, and have got the hang of it, but i dont really know, whats the best stick to use?? thanx for any help....btw i might get my hands on a mig welder for the day, and from what i've heard i'll pick it up really fast after learning stick welding...true/false?

Just make sure your springs are totally flat when the shackles are at 45* or you may have problems. If you have arched springs and you just put your shackles at 45*, you will probably keep hitting them on the frame as the springs flatten out.

Me and 2 friends i think are gonna put in real soon to get a nice ole new welder to share, since we all do work together anyways. now that my other friend has a bender, "the shit's hit the fan" and mad welding/bending is gonna take place. I already have an idea for a new front clip/front fenders sketched out.

If your springs sit flat, put the shackles back even further!

Mine are more like 55* and 60* in the front, and they never hit the frame. You can see that the rear springs have a bit of arch in them... (7 leaf waggy's) they didn't until I took all the crap out of the back I used to carry... but the front shackle shows how far back mine are very well.
