I want to use non ebrake calipers on my 44 rear as the return rate on non e brake calipers is 75% less than the ebrake calipers .So heres my quandry . I want a good ebrake still . I have seen a few guys running a caliper and disc that attach to the backside of the yoke on a 44 . Anyone know where they are coming from ? Are they any good? Thanks

Why don't you use a high angle driveline t-case e-brake kit?

Do yourself a BIG favor... cuz you are gonna get flamed by somebody quick, and a lot, for not reading the "Rules" and checking in as a "Newbie":barf:... Do these two things first... then go to "search" at the top of the page...
And before anybody else can officially & properly greet you... Hey NEWBIE!! :flipoff2:
Try going to www.highangledriveline.com ... they should have the e-brake item you are looking for.
Oh yeah ... re:your sig... It'll never happen, it never does ...

The rules are read , thanks for the heads up I am waiting to hear from jessa t high angle in regards to the ebrake . What advantage does the T case mount have versus a pinion mount . Unless its in 4 wd it would be the same wouldnt it?

Yes it would be the same, but a lot less likely to get damaged on the back of the t-case. Plus it adds to unsprung weight. Probably the only disadvantage to the t-case mount would be if you broke the rear drive shaft. Of course in that case you could put it in 4wd and have it work on the front end.

Just get a line lock, and be done with it.:smokin:

some reasons not to hook it up to the pinion and hook it up to the tcase-
-ground clearance with the rotor
-you'll have to route your ebrake lines to allow for flex
-you'll probably have to weld something to the diff which is cast and thats not fun

Off the t-case or a line lock one of the 2 but not from the diff for the reasons already listed.

Just a senerio.......
Driving down the road - yes my TJ can be a daily driver :flipoff2: - rear driveshaft or u-joint, breaks somehow, takes out a brakeline (I've seen stranger things happen), and you say to throw it in 4WD have the t-case mount e-brake stop me? One question........ who's going to lock in my front hubs for me?? :D :D This is the reason I asked before about having a differential mounted e-brake. I do understand it would have a potential of being damaged tho.

IMO, I think what Grandpajeep is sayin', is that if you blow out your rear driveline, or as you sed- you break the u joint or a brakeline, put it into 4WD/frontWD so you can still "limp" off the trail/road, drop the driveshaft or clamp off the brake line, and still make it home to make the necessary repairs. Personally, I am NOT about to keep driving my :jeep: and still have to use the E-brake until repairs were needed. C'mon, you can always leave it in gear, in 4WD and be okay for a short bit. The other scenario is to have it placed on the front driveshaft. Although that would mean locking the hubs when you HAD to use the Ebrake. Sounds like a pain in the A$$ to me!
So, no matter if you agree or not, which it IS your choice, IMHO I think T-case mounted E-brake is the best application VS Pinion mounted! Either that or go back to custom length E-brake cables to the rear brakes:barf:!!
:eek:OR you could always lug around a rock, a brick, or a wheelchock!!:laughing:
