The 205 is a longer case - if it is of vital importance I can go measure for you. Also, dont forget the adapter length - that can be considerable too - the 465 to 205 adapter is about 6.5"

Hope this helps a little.
My cruiser from the front of the chevy bellhousing with the sm465, AA adapter, and 74 4 sp t-case is 33" (to the rear output flange).
My 70 GMC with a sm465 and 205 is 37" from the front of the bellhousing to the driveline flange on the rear output of the t-case.

My AA adapter is 4.625".
Chevy Bellhousings are approximately 7.25".
SM465s are 12".
That would mean that my cruiser t-case (from bolting surface at the adapter to the rear output flange) is:
33"-4.625"-7.25"-12"= 9.125" (approximately)
(without minusing the adapter...=13.750")

The 205 plus stock adapter is"
37"-12"-7.25"= 17.75" (approximately)

another thing you have to consider that the cruiser t-case is a passenger rear output, and down low. the 205 is a center rear output ant the same level as the input shaft. that's a good 8 inches higher and will increase your driveline angle a lot! 205's also weigh about 2 times as much as a cruiser case and they're geared almost exactly 2:1. don't get me wrong, i'm not here to knock the 205's. they are one of the strongest t-cases ever built. but, unless you're running a boatload of horsepower and 1 ton axles with 38's or bigger i don't think you'll need one.

Thank's ya'll. I'll probably stick with the cruiser case since I plan on staying at 35" or 36" tires. I was actually thinking of going with the Klune, and was looking at my transfer case options.
