As stated in my previous thread, I'm finally heading off to acheive my career goals and I've got a little problem.

I'm a cowboy boot type of person and have a real nice pair for dressing up and "going to meetings," but when going through the academy they said don't wear cowboy boots when interviewing. That's fawked up:rolleyes:.

So I don't want to spend a bootload of cash, and I don't want to look like I'm heading off to the danceclub. Something simple and cheap, recommendations?

And getting some high dawg, strait up pimping threads without spending a fortune, where to go?

Are you going full dress (suit, tie, jacket) or are you looking at business dress (dockers, shirt and tie)?

Can't go wrong with black wingtips, they'll work with either a suit or Dockers -

Boots have thier place and its not on an interview...unless your gonna be a fawkin ranch hand. If I was interviewing someone and they were wearing CB boots, I would have to think twice about hiring them...unless they were SUPER qualified for the job.

I like CB boots but like I said...not on an interview. Go with some sensible wing tips and snatch the job up:D

this all depends on your personality and what type of image you want to project. here are some selctions and they depend on what color the suit will be.
examples: outdoors/rough/but cultured :timberland 6in boots in oiled brown
freak by night : Doc martin black and white wing tips
strictly buisness: plain black or brwn oxfords (get a one with a stiched toe they add a little more detail)

stay away from slip ons unless you think your a playa or over 50
wing tips are boreing and offer little personality as everyone and thier brother owns a pair.

and no i'm not :rainbow: i just used to sell clothing :flipoff2:

Full ride. I'm sure the mental image you have after meeting me is scaring you:flipoff2:

It's law enforcement. It fawking sucks though cause where I'm from, a bolo tie and boots will work, but apparently they don't like that image out here. I guess if I ever interview back in NM, I'll be good.

Guess ya don't have anything more important to do, it was Chroloframes? for me when I was in. Those that have that laminate shiny stuff already out of the box.:D

If you have Burlington Coat Factory in your area go there for suits. They are cheap, but will last. Shoes -- If you wear standard size width, find a warehouse type shop. (Now, you'll have to go to church every Sunday to get you're money out of the clothes.)

If I were you, I would go with slacks, button down shirt, tie, sports jacket. Not a suit. Save money and you can mix and match clothing.

Ummm, no. But I could always get an excessive force lawsuit every six months so I'm always in court. Of course they would fire me fast so I could get more use out of it with more interviews, of course no agency in their right mind would hire me with all those lawsuits:D

No, no, no. Always wear your uniform to Court. Jurors love a man in uniform.

If you're only wearing them for interviews then just go to payless and buy the cheapest one that don't totally look like crap.

I have a pair of Cole Haan dress shoes that I bought recently. They have some deal with Nike I guess and have the "air" thing on em. These are the most comfortable dress shoes I have ever had, most I can't wait to get off but man these are as comfortable as a pair of tennis shoes. They weren't cheap but they were worth the money.

Always prefered the green jungle boots myself.

I don't know about the overalls and plaid shirt, that is a considerable step up from my daily boonie hat, jock strap and flip flop wardrobe:eek: :D :flipoff2:

You've got to admit that a jock strap helps the tanlines, but I don't think some of the racers like being stuck with that mental image while trying to cross a highway:D

if youre just wearing them once or twice, just get a cheap pair of black dress shoes....theyll be like 30 and uncomfortable, but who cares, you'll wear 'em for 3 hrs.

Mens wearhouse can suck a fatty. Dont like that place at all. I would goto a dept store, like Rob-May, because they're always having a sell and usually have coupons in the paper. You can come home with a pretty nice suit for $150. Get black because it will go with pretty much any shirt/tie combination. Which is the last part....you can wear the same suit to all your interviews, even with the same company/people, just get 2 sets of ties/shirts...1 white shirt, 1 blue shirt, couple ties and you're down. You'll look highclass and can fool em!

or if you dont want to spend 200 for the suit/tie, go down to Costco and get a pair of dresspants...they usually have Slates or Ken Cole or some other snooty brand. Theyre nicer than Dockers and look more like a suit...without the coat. And at costco, they'll be like $20 for a pair thats usually $60. But still go with the shirt and tie. Will just look like you left the coat in the car!

Dockers and a tie is too 1980's yuppy!
