Has anyone used any of Performance Unlimiteds Steering Systems? I'm putting a Dodge D60 under a 79 Scout and going hysteer. I wasn't sold on rod ends untill I saw these...Randy at Performance Unlimited claims his (military spec) spherical rod ends don't budge untill nearly a hundred lbs of pressure is applied. I was at his shop and I couldn't move them by hand... He also says his Trail Proof rod will deflect 4" and flex back to normal. I'm convinced, this is a beefy setup! A friend has his setup, and they are indeed BEEFY. be sure you both are on the SAME page regarding the measurements of the pieces you need, and I recommend faxing a copy to him and request a return fax verifying your measurements are what he needs to contruct your rods (cover everyone's asses move). I can't remember if it was here, or on another list (or if it was even another vendor, so don't take this as a bash on P.U.), but someone had a really bad experience trying to get steering rods made to the correct length, and then trying to clear up a measurement misunderstanding.

it was here on PBB that the episode with performance unlimited went down. the issue was resoved to the satisfaction to both partys and after my dealings with the owner on behalf of the customer it was all taken care of. i think he is probally a good vendor to deal with but as mentioned i would make sure to have all you measurments on paper and faxed to him and signed by the owner before work begins. which is actually a good idea when having any custom part made.

I have known Randall for 10+ years.....As vendors go he is A-OK in my book. And a rather knowledgable Ford dude as well. And don't forget to ask him about his Cobra...truly a kik ass toy.
