: Snoopy's ShakeDown Run
Snoopy 07-28-2003, 08:12 AM Well, after the crammin it was time to go out and see if Snoopy really worked so Bill, Mark, Myself, Allen, Captin, and another guy (I don't remember his name ~ sorry) started up OldStage.
Snoopy overheated at the Broadmoor Stables and then again just before the overlook so we ditched the hood in the trees to give more air movement.
Snoopy kept dying every so often but not overheating. We suspected the ignition since it started mis-firing right before it would die. Sure enough ~ since it was mounted in its stock location on an overheating engine, the coil had cracked its case and which caused it to fail. We quickly re-located it to the firewall via a hose clamp and that ended my problems. I was surprised that it was still alive!
Anyway, that ended my problems with the Snoopy dying ~ its always the small stuff. The rest of the trip was uneventful, some good fun though.
More pictures are coming, here's a lineup shot just before we split ways.

I thought it was a myth, like the yetti or the loch ness monster...
Never thought I would see Snoopy in his natural environment....
Glad it went well

My crazy co-driver (the one standing up all the time with the crazy 'red barron' leather hat and goggles) had to get home so we left before Bill and Mark (RW&B BroncoII and Scout II, respectively) found a MASSIVE, VERY TOUGH rock/boulder climb about 100 yrds long. So we're heading back this weekend to test things out. they stated it took them 1.463 hours to get up it, so it should be a good time.
Depending how Snoopy does on that trail will tell me if I'm/It's ready for Indy and Carnage Canyon
Shadow man 07-28-2003, 11:49 AM Indy is fun. Carnage Canyon is nothing. I wouldn't waste your gas going to CC :) Now "Carnage Gulch" would be great!
Ben W 07-28-2003, 12:21 PM cool, your rig is looking good. Good to see you out doing some wheeling. Are those 38.5x14.5 SX's on hummer wheels? What backspacing?
Sully 07-28-2003, 12:28 PM Sweet! Good to see Snoopy in action!

Thanks, it was nice to actually wheel it again. I'm a little rusty, but Snoop did very well despite me :D
Yes, those are 38.5x14.50 SuperSwamper TSL/SX on Hummer rims. I did the centers (had them custom built) and it has 3.75" back spacing.
MochaMike 07-28-2003, 02:01 PM Trying to impress the Disco's I see....
harkinoff 07-28-2003, 03:54 PM congrats on finally getting to wheel it..... I'm jealous, its been a few months for me

Lazarus401 07-29-2003, 07:14 AM So how did that 4 cylinder work out, other than the temps and coil. Wishing for more power yet?

On the trail, no. On the street, yes.
Lazarus401 07-29-2003, 08:52 AM Snoop,
Any luck on finding that trailer you were looking for? If not then just how slow was the drive to the trail head?

No, I borrowed a Powestroke and trailer from my machinist for RMIHR, but this trail is only 10-15 miles from home...so I drove to it.
73binder 07-29-2003, 09:33 PM Snoopy,
The photos with the Disco's in the back would be a perfect ad for a Scout..........they're just sitting in a line wishing they be as cool.
We could call the ad "We're Back!"
Maybe, we'll even get our own Camel Tour or whatever that thing was in So. America that put Disco's on the map.
Snoopy 07-30-2003, 08:55 AM Speaking of the Disco's.... Bill, my head tech, scared the crap out of them with a puddle rush from *heck*.... Here's the video...

If you listen closely, you can hear them scream as the water falls about 1-2 ft from their group. What a bunch of LR Bill would have stay'd on the gas through it, but couldn't see and didn't want to run smack into one of them.
