I need a hook up on a Sacramento area (closest to lincoln as possible) Air Conditiong repair. My A/c went out last monday and my "Home Warranty" company sucks my ass. They cannot find ANYONE in their network to fix it for weeks, and it was 93 degrees INSIDE my house at 3 am last night. So I have permission to get my own vendor and have them billed. ANybody help me????? Please

Just like this post:flipoff2:

So the thermostat is making and calling for cooling.
Have you looked at the contacter for the compressor?
Checked the wiring at all?could be as simple as a bad connection at the can.

Honestly I havent done a damn thing......I have been leaving home 6 am and getting home 8-9 pm. TOnight I am gonna poke around, but I dont know much about it and I am pissed we have this freakin home warranty that is all but useless to us.

Collectively we should be able to diagnose and maybe even help you fix it.

Look for obvious damage like a spider burned inside or burned wires.
Check the Capacitors, they shouldn't be bulging anywhere or be leaking anything.
Make a note of which fans are turning, inside(evaporator) and or outside(condenser)
Check to see if compressor is running at all.
Check voltage at compressor terminals with meter.
Write down make model# and voltages for outdoor unit.

Is the Compressor (outside) running, not just the fan? Push in the contactor, make sure you have power out there

I dont think it is. I dont here the compressor click on at all. Some lady at one place I called said it could be as simple as a new battery in the thermostat????? That sounds kinda lame to me.....

Possible, but seems unlikely since you do have at least one fan running. You could put a jumper wire on the the thermostat from the red to the green wire and that should rule out the thermostat being the problem.Pretty sure the green is cooling anyway, been a while since the last time I worked.

Is the outdoor fan running?

It could be the high pressure switch causing a problem. My A/C wouldn't turn on when it got really hot because of an issue with that. It would click on when it was in the 60's at night, when of course I didn't need it... might be worth a look....

I don't have a hook up, but I have been pleased in dealing with High Temp Heating & A/C, Roseville, 791-9552. They are professional and seem to be priced right. Brower Mechanical flat out sucks, so don't use them. We used them to do our install and they cut a fat hole in my ceiling and left it to shove the furnace up in the attic not to mention a few other idiot moves....

First of all:CHECK YOUR AIR FILTER

If it's dirty it can damage the system and make it not run.

See if fuses are okay at the disconnect. Insure your breaker isn't tripped.

Green is not a standard color used for the "Y" (cooling) terminal and even if it were you can';t assume the installers used common wiring colors. That's a good way to blow shit up: assuming.

Is the condenser (outdoor unit) fan running and if so is it at full speed or just slowly?

Does your thermostat have a malfunction light on it and if so is it lit?

Check this and post back for us. :)

I guess I needed a bigger disclaimer about which wire to jump out.

What can you blow up jumping out one wire at a time on the thermostat....assuming you pull the power wire off the terminal?

If you have a "common" lead to the thermostat (normally "C" or "X") and you jumper it to R,Y,G,B,O,W2,W3,W1,Y2,E,L...

Well, you get the idea. :)

Had the same prob at my new home also. The wife got to the house on moving day and it was 101 degrees inside the house. went to turn on the a/c and nothing worked. 240K for a brand new home and you think the fawkers would give you a dam battery!!!!

Hope it works out to be something simple and inexpensive since you had to sell your soul to get into that place. Good Luck!!!

Our air conditioner at work has two settings; one for cooling and one for just blowing air, with out cooling.

I bet he had the switch turned to the wrong setting:D

Well at least it wasn't something major, like a blown compressor. :)
