I've got two Kicker Comp 10"s and they hit decent with a 500 watt bridged amp. L7's are pretty kick-ass too.

That's about all I know....

im in the process of replacing the shitty stock bose stereo in my 350z.

im using 2 JL 8w6s and i havent decided on the amp yet.

im a big fan of JL subs, but there are some out there that beat both JL and kicker. Image Dynamics makes some killer subwoofers, but get ready to pay for em! i got 2 JL 8s for 50 bucks from a friend, which is why i didnt splurge on the ID sub.

as fa as amps are concerned, kickers make a lot of power, but its not the cleanest power around. JL amps are great, and if i could afford it i would install their 5 channel model. since im on a budget i cant do the JL, so its either kenwood's excelon 5channel or the kicker 5channel.

if you have the $$ go JL all the way around, its better quality stuff.

Installed a alot of JL stuff, 12w6's etc.

Kicks ass.

I used PPI (Precision Power Inc.) A600 amps.

JL over kicker hands down.

JL over Kicker, no contest. I had a pair of Kicker 12s. I ran them with a Soundstream, Alpine, and Harmon Kardon amp at different times (yes, HK did make a car amp once upon a time, and it was good.)

Went and looked at some 10w6s, because of the rep. Heard the JLs in the audio shop's standard display enclosure, against some other 10s. There was just no comparison. Even in the crappy enclosure, they sounded awesome. In my custom built box, they were absolutely flawless. Every vibration of the cord on a bass can be discerned. JLs are simply the best sounding sub I have ever heard, and will make the most wooshy cheap amp sound good.

Just goes to show, the most important thing in a stereo is the speakers, by far.

Now if this was a JL vs BA pro-series, I could see. But JL vs Kicker?

Gee, what's better, an F-16 or this paper airplane I just folded?

Oops, anyway, theives got my JLs, BA pro-series 5.4s, Alpine v12 (yes, weakest link, soon to be replaced), and JBL rears. Last time I did stereo stuff. Took me years to get up to that level, after years of listening. Civics are good for something, they sound real good.

Yeah I like the Boston Acustics also. A friend of mine who installs stereo's and is going to Auburn for something to do with stereos runs 4 pro series 10s and they and they sound awesome from a safe listening distance.

i've run them all before...

kicker's stuff is still stillwater crapola...

the boston pro x.0 is fair, the boston pro x.5 is much much better...

jl shit is built in Germany, no need say more... in cahoots with James B. Lansing of course. ;) the engineers of competition amplifier manufacturers are always in bed with the manufacture of competition level subs, always.

ARC Audio - Brax Audio - best amps i've heard lately. RF BD 1000.1 gets it done also.

I have a single Polk 10" being driven by a Puch 400 watt(bridged) amp. A sub amp never seem to work driving the 4 Ohm's but a bridged two channel that likes to see 4 ohms works great.
A friend of mine has the same car (Jeep Cherokee) and has Two 12" JL's and a 1100 watt amp, of course his is louder, but then again he has more than 3 times the money in his stereo than i do.

I always liked Kickers stuff, if I had tons of money I might consider something else.

As far as Amps, I have a kciker now and it's decent I guess, but when I ever redo my system it's going to be Xtant amps for everything.

i run the kicker solobaric L7's 10's because of the lack of space in the back of my jeep - pretty good. Powered by phoenix gold amps..

yeah those Xtants are awesome...

the USX and US AMPS are also very good, and not too pricy either for what you get. They're built by ZED ELECTRONICS in SoCal who has a mighty tall reputation for building some of THE best stuff while remaining somewhat nameless for years and years... all military spec components and boards. - fyi -

The old school rockford amps were awesome for the money(ix and earlier models). I still have the ones from my original stereo bought back in 96...they have been abused and they still get it. The new ones they sell look like they are crap--all plastic junk. I don't follow stereo stuff anymore, but back in the day McIntosh made great amps too, Dynaudio had some awesome mids and highs. Xtant, Soundstream, and Phoenix Gold were all good too . If you were just looking at subs Rockford and Kicker were the loudest, but the JLs sounded better. I don't waste my money on that stuff anymore though, too many thugs and it's just something to get stolen.:flipoff2:

I have 3 Rockford Fosgate dvc 10's and a Sony mobile es amp
bridged , along w/ Sony mids and highs on mobile es 4 channel.I
haven't had one problem with this setup , and it's been in 3
different vehicles . Hits nice and hard plus it's real clear . All this
crap in a 99' f- 350 cc. :flipoff2:

Forgot about Soundstream...they had some nice stuff but had company problems and almost went under, IIRC. I always liked their Mule sub, that thing hit! The shop that carried them locla went out of businness 5-6 yrs ago and I havn't seen any Soundstream around since.

Soundstream is still building stuff...

their shit is good, reference series subs/amps, etc. - but they did have some reliability issues with some products... i am running a Granite 60.2 SS amp for some midhigh repro - and their TC-line of decks have the Schotz tuner, best in the industry as i've seen anyway.
