this isnt chit chat, but not tech either...

I am going to do a brake job on my silhoutte van and was wondering the basic thingsd I would need to do. the thing that scares me most is bleeding the brakes, I have only done it once and I need to do it right. can someone help me out who has done brakes similar to these... new rotors is what I am doing. will I even need to bleed or just pull off the calpier and put the new rotor in?
thanks for any tips,
Joe

shouldn't have to bleed it if all your doing is new pads/rotors.

get a big azz C clamp
squeeze it open
remove and replace pads/rotors

you will need to press the brake pedal a couple times before the brakes work again. gotta refill the cylinders.

not sure about your specific van, but these new fangled cars and their evil 'anti-rattle- clips are evil.

If it's rear wheel disk and you're doing those too DO NOT COMPRESS THE REAR CALIPERS WITH A "C" CLAMP! Rear caliper pistons screw back in and you can pick up the tool at Autozone.

that was it exactly. thanks for the tips. it went a lot easier than I had planned. $80 for the pads and rotors and free labor.....
the cheapest shop wanted $360... I wish all the car repair stuff was that easy.
