heres what it says. These kits provide an affordable way for you to add hydraulic assist steering to your rig. $220 for a 1.5"x6" or 1.5"x8" ram, mounting tabs and bolts, and hydraulic lines. You provide the ported steering box and installation. We can also port your Toyota IFS-style steering box for you. Give us a call for more information.

Looks like what I have. Got mine from West Texas Off-Road, sent them my box and they drilled and tapped the box and resealed it too. I think mine was $450. and it works great!!!!

Oops.... did you ever have any interference problems with the one line and your tires at full-right-lock?

I'm going to tap my own box and I have the lines from the local hydro shop. I ordered the ram and ends for it today from West Texas since he is doing a special this month. Finding a 1.5"x8" ram is not easy. I almost went the cheap way and went with a 2x8"er

I have the RockLogic ram assist on my truck and it is the best $220 I have ever spent.
I drilled and tapped my own box using the wildyoats instructions. It was easy than it sounds from the directions.

All of their stuff is top quality.

I second that. After my first NEUROC, I knew I needed hydro assist. I tapped my box using their write up on wild yoats. Works great!!! Now I dont have to strongarm while in the rocks. Best $$$ I spent in a while.

In the vendor section they are doing a sale til the end of the month. Fuelers link is cheaper though on the ram.

I paid $150 or $160 for the ram, mounts, and heim ends. Not to bad. I got some 36" lines from the local tractor supply shop. I'll still be under $200 total for my setup.

Fueler's link is cheap, but I think I like the heim ends that the Redneck ram uses better. I ordered it yesterday- $193 + shipping for the ram w/ heims, hoses & fittings. I tapped my own box.

The ends were one thing I didn't really like about Rock Logic and Rockstomper's rams (they may be the same kit?).

Not the same kit, though probably essentially similar. I wasn't too happy with the ends either, although they work great---so I'm now having my rams custom-made for me, with heim joints at both ends. Should make mounting easier in some cases.

Be forwarned!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO not drill too far into the top hole! Just enough to get into the 1/8-3/16 passageway! They really don't stress this enough in the fine article. Don't ask how I know... :(

That said, will be getting my setup from them soon. I think it might have been b4wheeler that I met at the EC4RJ and he loved his. :) Will help with the new 37's. If i can ever get away from the shop that is! :)

He says he will use it for ram assist one of these days :p

Bud? NOOOOOOOOO!!! :)

Ya know, we've found that the drill bit will "catch" and/or give you an audible indication that you have reached the passageway. However, I have heard from a few people that when using a drill press they are less likely to notice this and blaze on through the other side if not paying close attention.

Hey Bud...it may have been me too that you talked to at EC4RJ'03 about the Redneck Ram? Either way, it's awesome!! Even the on road manners are acceptable. I was afraid there'd be alot of slowness in the reaction, but no. After that first time to Paragon with the 4Runner and the 38's aired down to 10psi, it was a no brainer. I called Matt @ West Texas Off Road that Monday and had it ordered. Good investment, nice guy and great company.....kinda like you.

Later.

Greg

PS. You going to Paragon on Aug. 8-10?? I'm going, but if it's too crowded we're gonna wheel locally. E-mail me if you wanna come with us. E-MAIL (four_the_hard_way@yahoo.com)

Two of my friends run that kit. No problems with it at all with a year of hard trail time on both.
