Well, the holidays are comming around the corner and its time to start decorating the tow rig. Here is some real world experience trying to keep $4 sets of lights alive during an Alaskan winter going 65mph down the highway. :D
There are things that you need to know...
A 100A alternator is not enough, at idle you will be discharging. A 300watt inverter lasted me about 2 weeks with a 475watt draw. Get a big one the first time. ;)
Also, you should avoid all pot holes...especially after the lights have been on for a while.
And one last thing, just because it was fun driving under low hanging branches weighted down with snow...doesn't mean that its a good idea any more. I did that once, when I'd forgotten) and now one side is almost completely dark. 50 replacement bulbs cost as much as dinner, so no big loss.
Just a bump in the wrong direction and these cheap lights will break their own filament.
