i am not too good at electrics. my truck wouldnt start last weekend, so i jumped it. (88 4runner buggy with 22re). 2 minutes after removing the jumper cables she died again, so i jumped it again and left them connected for a bit. she stayed on for about 10 minutes this time. i took off the pos. on the battery and it died immediately. i thought it was the alternator, so i got a new one and replaced it. symptoms are all still there. i was charging my battery(1 yr old optima) off other peoples rigs to wheel and it would last about half an hour or so. it seems like the alternator is just not charging. all wires from it look fine and hooked up. nothing has changed in the truck since it was running and charging fine. all fuses look good. could it be a bad new alternator(napa part)? are theyre any other things i should check? thanks alot for the help-------------brad

hard to say if the Napa alt is bad with out a few voltage readings....maybe your original was good. First step in troubleshooting this is measure the voltage at the charge post on the alt. with the engine running(the charge post is the one with the really thick single wire on it)....is the reading 12.4 or 14.0 volts dc?
