did a search and nothing...so here it goes.

Vortec or TBI??

i'm planning a 4.3 swap in my 4Runner (yeah...another one of THOSE guys) and i'm looking to get the most power out of the least work with these motors. i've heard rumors of an X or W VIN difference with the vortecs (i think that's the options), so i'm kinda leery about those. also...there might be a whipple twin screw planned in the future and i'm not sure how that'd work with the vortec, so that's were the TBI comes into play. i don't want a carb, so that rules that out. well...what do you guys think??

also...is the NV4500 a good DD tranny?? i don't really like autos, but i wouldn't HATE a 700R4.

well...if you guys coudl throw some suggestions out there, i'd appreciate it.

well if you want more power from a 4.3 then think about TPI/CPI it has more hp and torque then TBI

you cant beat the reliability and servicibility of the TBI. While they dont put out what a vortec can, it puts out enough for my tastes (for now) and its easy to work on. and they are easy to set up. also, if you ever decide to go to a 350 or what not, and you used a blazer or pickup 4.3, all you have to do is change the chip in the computer and get a couple new sensors specific to the v8 size. the harnesses and ECU are the same.

so in other words...go with the vortec?? sounds like a plan. the only thing i was worried about was supercharging it. oh well...i'll figure it out when the time comes.

go with the Vortec. more power all over and Powerdyne already has a 7psi supercharger for it. about 2400.00 bucks. :D
