I just got done welding my perches on my front waggy 44 for my SOA, When I noticed that on the drivers side pumpkin I welded the perch about an inch off. Now both perches are on and Its gonna be hella trouble to cut them both off. If I leave them what problems will I run into, My springs are still gonna go on fine, but Im worried my front drive shaft could get a little close to the tranny? Also what do you do about a U-bolt on the waggy front drivers side drop? Is it cool to cut a little out of the web, to make the U-bolt fit? Im gonna mock it all up tommorow so I hope I dont have to do it all again ?thanks guys !! :usa:

an inch off, to teh side, too tall? too short? WTF?
its a ok to grind the webbing to allow the bolts to rest snug, I eded up with a square bolt, and a U bolt on my pass diff 44 front.
cut the damn perch off and do it right, jeeze

I would have to say, that if you need to ask if you shoud re-work a 1" Fawk up, with your front axle geometry. Then the answer is. "It'll be swell,.. just weld it up". Then everytime you think about the "screw up", for month's down the road,... when bushings keep falling apart, and when your leaf springs wont stay stacked, without fanning every 10 minutes on the trail. Then when the fix turns out to be just what you know it is now, plus removing the axle, and linkage, and putting it back together,(usually in a rush, just before a big event), only then to find out that youve stripped out a couple of U bolts, and the spring shop closed 15 minutes earlier. ......"Then, and only then" will you trully know the answer to your question(unless you already knew the answer).

Me and Charly just pulled a waggy 44 out of a 77 w/dsd.
There is a hole for the u bolt in the web.
Don't know if ot's cast in or it's drilled, but it's there.
HTH.
