View Full Version : They stole my jeep
I had my jeep for sale on my lot and some basterd stole it about 3 hours ago.I have not got a chance to talk to my insurence and i have a few questions that i thout someone might could answer. A I had full coverage and was wondering what they will cover. Will it just be blue book or estemated value with mods? Also does any one know how long it will take to get some money from the insurence.
Also keep an eye out for a 92 yj red w/black top. 35 mtr's with a georgia tage from fannin county.

It'll be blue book unless you've kept all the receipts for your mods.

for future reference..... you can have your rig insured for "replacement" cost. you will need to document upgrades and supply either pictures to an agent or have the vehicle evaluated by an agent. premiums are a little more but it's the difference between 7,500 kbb and 16,500 actual value(numbers for reference only)

My rig was stolen a few years ago. I made a binder for the insurance company that contained all of my receipts. For the items that I did not have receipts for I printed out pictures that I had of my rig, circled the mod, and found website, magazine, or shop estimate and attached those prices on the same page. That way it allows them to see that everything you say was on your rig really was. Statefarm paid for about 90% of what I documented. I was very happy w/ that. It took a few hours to put together, but I know I wouldn't have gotten as much $ from them if I wouldn't have done it.
Hopefully the cops will find the punks that took your Jeep. Good luck with everything.

yeah...ins will pay. that "replacement cost" deal is usually called, "stated value" you pay your ins premiums based on how much you think its worth. you would obv increase this coverage with more mod's added each year, (or month like some)
good luck with finding your rig...even though its a jeep...JK;)

When my truck was stolen and stripped, my insurance covered all of the aftermarket parts that were stolen off of it. I also had put together a binder with the receipts and brought pictures, but they didn't even ask to look at them....they just took the list I wrote out with the estimated replacement costs and wrote me a check.
You are probably looking at several weeks, if not a month or so, before the insurance company will be willing to settle. They want to allow enough time in case the vehicle is recovered. If a vehicle is recovered it is usually within a couple of days, though it sometimes takes a while before they trace the recovered vehicle back to the owner.......I know mine sat in an impound lot for about a week before they traced it back to me.

When my car got stolen and smashed they covered everything that was part of the car, like all the audio components-but not the tools in the trunk. Of course they covered the dents and pealed steering colum. Take recipts and be nice to the adjuster.
They recoverd it this week. Still decent . Insurance paid me for it then i turned around and bought it back.
