From the Pirate Bible:

GM Rear ends:
1981-present - Corporate 14 bolt semi-floating. 9.5" ring gear. 1 3/8"x33 spline shafts. 8 lug till 1987,

***********
All other GM Corp 14 bolts are listed as full floating. This particular axle is also only listed under 3/4 ton.

Bible says:

Corporate 14 bolt full-floating. 3.73, 4.10, 4.56 ratios available. 1 1/2"x30 spline shafts. 8 lug. 10.5" ring gear.
***********

So then is it safe to assume that ALL 30 spline 14 bolts are full floater? And conversly that all full floating 14's are 30 spline?

Also Randy's Ring and Pinion lists a 5.13 gearset for the 14 bolt including a thick ring gear version. Is ther even more variation of the 14 bolt out there? The Bible shows no option for a 5.13 ring and pinion set.

ARB only lists a locker for the semi-floating 14 bolt with 33 splines and shows no application for a 30 spline GM 14.

ASSUMTION:If you want an ARB in a GM 14 bolt it HAS to be a semi-floating 33 spline 3/4 ton version of the axle.

If you want the larger axles and stouter 1-ton GM 14 bolt, you can only run a Detroit locker. But you also get full-floating.

Did I draw the correct conclusions?

DEDUCTION: If you wanted an ARB with full-floating, 35 spline axles then you HAVE to get the Dana 60 from :1975-86, 30/3500 Series, C, K, G, P, R, V, Pickup, Suburban, Rally/Sportvan. This runs not only the 35 splines but also 1.5" axles.

**Note: The information regarding the GM rear 60 full floating axle is from ARB's website and I didn't see a reference to this axle or a 60 option in the Bible.

ARB is in the process of making one of their lockers for the full floating 14 bolt. It will be available this february they say. I just picked up my full floating rear and asked them about it.

guess ARB knows they cannot compete with a $300 detroit
why would you need a rear ARB?
I understand the front could be handy so the little woman could drive it in snow
but the rear, only a spool could top a detroit.
