: custom full cage on cj5

can anyone post me pics of a custom full cage in a cj5?any info about attaching the cage to the frame instead of the body tub?i have the option of using chrome moly tubing, i suppose that would be best.any suggestions?

I don't know if chromoly would be worth it. Unless you are concerned about space and want to use smaller tubing that is as strong as the bigger stuff. 2" .120 wall DOM tubing is more that sufficent. If you want a super-strong cage just make sure to keep things triangulated. It spreads the load better just like bridges do.

using chrome moly is WAY overkill for a cage. A mild steel 2" OD 1/8" wall is more than enough. The chrome moly is very expensive. I spent $60 in tubing for my cage in my YJ. To tie it into the frame I used some plate to make mounting area off the framerail, gussetted the hell out of it, then you bolt the gage onto the plate through the body tub, sandwiching the tub. When you do thid remember to put in a rubber bushing or you will hear all the creaks and groans your suspension maked amplified through your cage.
