I am having some problems with my truck starting. When I shut it off to go in somewhere or for the night when I go back to start it it just cranks and cranks. I changed out the fuel pump thinking it was letting the gas bleed off. I also changed out the inline filter and the fuel line to the carb. When i took off the fuel line from the carb and removed it just 5 minutes after shuting it off there was no gas in the line. I need some sugestions on what else the problem could be. It has an edelbrock 1406 carb on it. Everything runs great after I finally get the gas back up to the carb, it is just getting old having to crank it all the time to get it started.

Thank you for any help
Chuck

Did this just start suddenly? It may not be a fuel problem either. Could be weak spark or no spark at first crank. Try checking for spark when it happens. Eliminate everything you can. Hope this helps.

My 86 GMC K3500 454 does the same thing when it sits for a few days, but after it's been started it'll be fine the rest of the day. I was told it was probably the diaphram in the fuel pump letting the fuel bleed back to the tank. But your fuel line being dry after 5 minutes, dunno?
