Ok, I'm looking at AP 5" springs for my '85 Yota. However, I am confused with them...

I have 2" shackles on my truck now, so does that mean I need to purchase the AP spring hanger too? Can I use the stock length AP springs with my shackles? And, can I mount the rear springs with my shackles or do I need to buy hangers too?

Thanks for all the help... I am one hell of a newbie...

Call AP...

Stock length springs should work with stock spring hangers and most shackles, but call to be sure.

Get 4 inch springs if you have extended shackles. With a 1" shackle lift and 5" springs, you'll be able to fit 40" tires.

With only cutting the firewall because my axle can't be moved forward any more than it is, I run 38.5s comfortably on a 4" AP front spring and a 1" longer-than-stock shackle. AP springs are WAAY tall... and having a tall-ass tippy truck is BAD. Comprende? :)

why would you suggest that, so he can get flamed and toled to search, these kind of questions are what this forum is for.

I would suggest getting the drop hanger. I've got a set of AP 3" springs in the factory springs mounts and 1.5" lift shackles. Needless to say, my pinion angle sucks big time. I'm hoping that throwing on some shorter shackles will help out, if not, a drop hanger should.

I would recommend going with the longer than stock springs. AP likes to position the shackle so it is straight up and down. This is going to give a rougher on road ride, if that matters to you. It has been discussed at large on the Toy board, and most people have had this happen and later had to go with different springs etc.
