The search engine here suck donkey bawls. Didn't I see something on here about 35 spline shafts being available for the ford 8.8. Anyone know who makes these. And are 8.8 driver and passenger side shafts the same size. Just wondering how many spares I'll have to buy.

If using an exploder 8.8, yes, both are different sizes... I have had no problems with 31 splines though.... Why 35? Do you see 31 as a weekness?

Ya explorer. Just considering my options. Ive got a line on an 8.8 with 4.10's allready so I can just swap it in. Then add a spool when I regear and upgrade the shafts if available.

They are made, but not sure by who.

for a racing mustang but I lost it when I formatted. It was posted on the board so it should come up

It would be cheaper to just carry some 31 spline spares then to swap the whole thing out and still have to get custom spares... If you start blowing 31 spline 8.8 shafts often, then you swapped in the wrong axle to begin with... I run mine hard and have yet to break one, but ill try really hard when i get 36's... My buddy's with toyotas are running crazy 200:1 crawl ratios with 36's and 37's and aren't braking the stock Toyota axles and they are 30 spline and smaller than 8.8 shafts... They may have mouse power, but ive seen some crazy throttle assaults on some hills with no breakage on those things, so i feel good about mine... Hugh

I was considering doing a 35 spline swap on my 8.8 but Im not breaking my 31 spline factory axles yet. Yet being the keyword there :D I do have a set of spare 31 spline shafts just incase though.
I think its moser that makes the 35 spline axle for the 8.8. Also Detroit doesnt make a 35 spline locker so youd have to go spool. And if you go spool then you have to get some c-clip elim's too.

Here we go.. I just found a place that sells Moser Eng. 40 spline race axles for 8.8's for $385.00 /pair. :eek: Damn if your gonna upgrade forget going from 31 spline to 33 or 35 just go a clean 40 :D
