Does any one have a broken warn front axle that I could get a hold of so I can do some material/hardness testing on? Thanks

Dont have any broken ones, but I can tell you they are through hardened to about 50-60rc if I recall.

At last years NWRCA a friend of mine shattered the ears on both the inner and outer warn axles...he was not very happy and they both probably flew far far into the bushes behind his house when he found out warn wouldn't warantee the joint section of the axles...only the splines and shaft.

This doesn't really help you get one to test but you were wondering if anybody had broken one.

I have two broken outers and one inner from a D44. I'm trying to get Warn to warranty them, if I don't have any luck there all yours

What other tests are you going to do? It only takes a minute to test the hardness.

I was going to EDM it longways and acid etch it to see the hardness pattern and check the hardness, may also do chemical analysis to see if they are using the alloy they say they are. Just curious to see how they were made and maybe make some impovements if possible.
