All right, there's about 7 people in the state of Michigan with an internet connection. And as far as wheelers, it's: Go through the mud, turn around, go through the mud, turn around etc.

Who trail rides in the southern LP? All the power lines in Kalamazoo country are fenced up. I know of ONE trail in this county, and I've put probably 2,000 miles on my truck lookin.

Anyone?

I grew up in Jackson and I knew of a few places where we used to go wheeling on a regular basis. There is an old rail bed where they removed the tracks that we used to wheel on and a whole lot of woods around town that had trails. You just had to know where to look. I realize that there aren't a lot of people on the Pirate board that live there, but you should be able to find some people in your area. Whenever I move, I look for the built trucks and dirty trucks and follow them. When they stop, I ask them where they go wheeling and if they are in a local club that knows trails. They're usually pretty receptive to new people if you show a genuine interest. I honestly don't know if our old haunts are still open around Jackson, but it wouldn't hurt to check them out if you are in the area. PM me if you're interested in directions/descriptions.

What kind of wheeling are you looking to do? Let me know, and I'll tell you where in MI you can find it. If you want rocks, all you're going to find is man made courses. Join the Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association. There are a lot of clubs in MI and there is usally a big run every season.

Yeah I was going to give them a call. I'm not especially into rocks, I'm a pretty mild wheeler. There are play areas all over northern Kent County (well, used to be before 1990) Just sand hills, some rocks, little mud, trails. GLFWDA is heavy in Jeeps so that's my kind of thing, thanks for reminding me.

There isn't a lot on there right now, but the more people from Michigan that know about it the better it will get :D

Come to Washington... that's where it's at!!! Everyone here four-wheels, but unfotunatley the whole state isn't covered with rock crawling like most people are looking for. There's some good stuff around Yakima though!

There's good crawling to be had in the Columbia basin.

As you already know there are not many areas to wheel in Michigan. I take it you have been to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Have you been to the Mounds (http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/~mirror/Areas/Mounds.html) yet? Whole lot of going through the mud and turning around to do it again.

As for trails, there are many up in Grayling. We head up there a few times a year.

I haven't been to the mounds yet. I'm going up to all those trails in Roscommon county next year. What are they like? The info on the DNR site is a little slim.

No man stay there. Don't come to washington. There's no place to wheel here, no work, high cost of living, and it rains 24/7. Spread the word man.....washington sucks!;)

Roscommon has hundreds of miles of trails. Most aren't exceptionally difficult. The mud holes and hills are the major obsticals. Roscommon has some power line trails that are still open to travel, and you can run them from Gladwin county all the way to Prudenville (Houton Lake area).

Believe me, I tell everyone here in the Midwest I meet, NOT to move to western Washington/Seattle. It is filled with homersexshuls :rainbow: , liberal commies:emb2: , and screaming gun-banning moms:crybaby2: .

Besides, it's all the old ppl from CA that are fawking up your state, not I sir. I used to live in Wenatchee.

Yeah, lots of trails up here in the U.P. The best mud is in the spring after the snow melts.

The club here in Marquette is the Northwoods Trailblazers.

Nope but that's a next year destination. I think we should get 3 or more people to make a long weekend of it.

Yeah, good guys. They come up to the U.P every summer for trailriding. Always meant to hook up with them, but they always come up when I'm out of town. :( Hmmm...maybe that's not an accident?
