I'm planning on cutting out and welding on my fenders tonight for the rear of my Scout, and I'm having to make some pretty big fenders to accomodate the way I cut the body.... what's everyone's recommendation on what kind of sheet metal to use for the fabrication of the fenders?

I had thought about using 1/8 or 3/16" tread plate, but man its expensive down here, if I have to thats what I'll use...

What have you guys used in the past? Please lemme know, and thanks in advance!

Use 18 or 16 gauge hot rolled sheet. 16 ga is the thickest that you can cut with most shears and bend reasonably well with most brakes.

I'd use 18 ga. but 16 is ok to.

Try to turn a def ear after this reply, because I'm sure someone will tell you to use 3/16 or 3/8 and how well theres turned out.
