I was reading an old fourwheeler magazine and they had an article on how to rebuild a junkyard q-jet. At the end of the article they had a little description of how the jet preformance and edelbrock rebuild q-jets compared. My question is would you spend $300 and order a rebuild q-jet from jet or edelbroch or would you pat $75 for the junk yard core and $75 on a rebuild kit and have a q-jet for half the price??

depends on what kind of shape the yard qjet was in. Theres some wear issues with em.

$75 for the core? And $75 for the kit? Try $25 for the kit. And you can buy q-jets all day long on E-Bay for $5-25. Is it worth $300 to buy new? Not in my book. For a little more than $300, I'll buy a used Pro-jection.

I ordered a Qjet from "Jet", give them the engine specs, received the carb and bolted it up. It ran flawlessly, didn't even need to set the idle.
To me, it was worth paying the extra cash and save alot of time(when I could be making money at work)) and effort rebuilding something myself. Anyway, Jet does good work.

Just bought a rebuilt qjet from Advance Auto Parts for 140.00 out the door. Runs great ...one funny thing is the body is cast mfd by Carter for GM on it and Holley is distrib.

I had one of the edelbrock smog legal ones on my last rig, but it was more like $425, anyways it was new, not rebuilt. It ran absolutely perfect out of the box and for next five year until I sold the truck. It worked great offroad.
