Newbieish question from a long time user
ok... had a burned out bulb. Bulb that was in it was installed in Germany. Probably back in 97 when the PO redid much of this rig.
Anyway.... no local replacements exactly the same. I got a 65watter that fits ok and plugs in ok. I like the idea of little brighter too cause headlights seemed sorta dim anyway buttt... will I end up popping fuses left and right due to increased Wattage?
Well actually if I start blowing fuses it shouldn't be a thing of "popping fuses left and right ", but more like "popping fuses right and right ":flipoff2: There does appear to be a fuse per bulb. Found this out in the investigation process. I dont know if this is typical or not for Mogs or other MB's of that era.
One more thing..... this rig was converted from 24volt to 12volt. Only thing changed was ignition system, alternator and headlamps.

On my CJ I am using what is refered to as a headlight brightener. Mine is home made and consists of 12ga wiring and 3 relays to power the lights directly from the alt. If you need more info on how to wire this up I will explain in more detail tomorrow as now I have had tooooooo much to drink and can't think strait. But the headlights are much brighter and with the 160 amp alt things look great at idle too.

that would be good info to have. Let the booze settle then fire away. :flipoff2:
still need to find out if Im pushing my wiring running higher wattage bulbs.
ohhhhh..... I forgot to say though... my wiring was once for 24volt headlights !!!! that are now only 12v.

I highly doubt you will have trouble with your fuses if you step up by 20 watts. You should only be drawing max 3 more amps, and I'm sure your wiring can handle that.
are 65w headlights DOT legal?

Thanks for the info.
I would assume they are Dot legal. Came right off the shelf of Advanced Auto Parts.
