To help set up my pinion bearing preload. Specs call for 7-11in/lbs. All the torque wrenchs I find dont measure that small. Whats up with this?

One cheapo option is to get a 1 pound weight, and hang it on your torque wrench at 10 inches away from the center of the nut. That's 10 inch-pounds, about right for what you want. I don't think it's worth paying for a special torque wrench unless you are doing several setups.

I ran into that problem with my 14b. You need the tension/bar type in-lb torque wrench. Napa can special order them, you can also find them on the Snap On/Matco/MAC truck. The Matco guy wanted $75 for his... I think it was closer to $50 at Napa.

There is a Craftsman 3/8" drive, inch pound torque wrench. A Snap On 1/4" drive would be better. They can be had in both beam and clicker styles.

Here is a link to one for sale. Overpriced by $25 or so IMHO but still cheaper than a Snap-on one.

GreatNeck makes on for about $20 at autozone. Just don't want to use it for to big of stuff, I found out the hard way, they break.

I own the Snap on 1/4" 5-35 in/lb screwdriver click type. Adjustable in .5 in/lb increments.

It looks goofy after stepping up all of the adapters to fit the pinion nut socket, but works like a dream.

Will loan with sufficient deposit......................

PM me if you need it bad.

I just finished up a gear set a while back, and don't think I'll be doing another till the weather gets crappier.

1/4->3.8->1/2->3/4, I bet that looks funny. Thanks for the offer shadetreez I might have taken you up on it if you were almost in the same state :D

I have decided to buy the $20 one from autozone and promptly return it when the jobs done. I already have a real nice "click" style 1/2" for all my big stuff. I have no room to even store another one. Thanks guys.
