I know I have read about this somewhere, but I must be sucking at searching, because I can't figure out where I saw it.

How do you replace the axle seal on the long side of a 10 bolt? Tip/tricks? Does the carrier have to come out, or can I drive it in/out with a length of tube, etc?

The carrier does have to come out! No way around it.
I made a tool with a slide hammer and some 7/16" all thread I had laying around. I made a round puck out of aluminum with a 7/16" hole in the middle that fits the outside diamiter of the seal, atach the slide hammer to the allthread so it reaches all the way to the seal from the nuckle, atach the puck to the end of the all thread, lightly tap the slide hammer, pulls the seal right in. I've used it nearly every day now for about 5 years and I still havn't found a better way to install inner seals.
