: New Tom Clancy book "The Teeth of the Tiger"
SanDiegoCJ 08-12-2003, 02:18 PM Just released for sale yesterday. Picked up a copy last night.
Not too far into it so I can't "review" it yet. One good line though,
It's a quote from a Marine about terrorists....................................
"If you want to kick the tiger in his ass you'd better have a plan to deal with his teeth." :D :D :D
InfantryYJ 08-12-2003, 02:23 PM The last book I read by Clancy was "The Sum of All Fears",....after that, not that the book was bad, I quit reading non-fiction,......mainly, I read military history.
Bubba Ray Boudreaux 08-12-2003, 04:51 PM Hmmmmmmmmmm.........
Give us a review without letting out too much. I haven't been thrilled about it, still waiting on my cowboy flick, but I think I'll have to go get a copy just for giggles.
Joe_W 08-12-2003, 04:56 PM Is it an "actual" Tom Clancy and not one of his mass-produced ones (you know what I mean, where he just gives his name to book)? I still hven't read the last one about the plan to assasinate the pope.

I HATE those mass-produced books. Everything else he's done has been great, though! So far, 'Without Remorse' was my favorite overall. The two best scenes overall are the opening scene in 'Rainbow Six' and the daycare center episode in 'Executive Orders' :). What's everyone else's faves?
Chris
85TrailToy 08-12-2003, 05:50 PM Seems a little early for a major release, didn't Red Rabbit just come out in the last year?

I've always liked the sniper on top of the roller coaster in rainbow six when he castrated the terrorist, I also thought the baro chamber in without remorse was unique...
Dave C 08-12-2003, 06:45 PM I've read jsut about every tom clancy book out, except for those op-center ones. Didn't care for those too much. I thought red storm rising was one of his better ones. and his non-fiction book fighter wing is what convinced me to move to mountain home.
This is the review from amazon. Looks like a good book.
A man named Mohammed sits in a café in Vienna, about to propose a deal to a Colombian. Mohammed has a strong network of agents and sympathizers throughout Europe and the Middle East, and the Colombian has an equally strong drug network throughout America. What if they were to form an alliance, to combine all their assets and connections? The potential for profits would be enormous-and the potential for destruction unimaginable.
In the Brave New World of terrorism-where anybody with a spare AK-47, a knowledge of kitchen chemistry, or simply the will to die can become a player-the old rules no longer apply. No matter what new governmental organizations come into being, the only truly effective ones are those that are quick and agile, free of oversight and restrictions . . . and outside the system.
Way outside the system.
In a nondescript office building in suburban Maryland, the firm Hendley Associates does a profitable business in stocks, bonds, and international currencies, but its true mission is quite different: to identify and locate terrorist threats, and then deal with them, in whatever manner necessary. Established with the knowledge of President John Patrick Ryan, "the Campus" is always on the lookout for promising new talent, its recruiters scattered throughout the armed forces and government agencies-and three men are about to cross its radar.
The first is Dominic Caruso, a rookie FBI agent, barely a year out of Quantico, whose decisive actions resolve a particularly brutal kidnap/murder case. The second is Caruso's brother, Brian, a Marine captain just back from his first combat action in Afghanistan, and already a man to watch. And the third is their cousin . . . a young man named Jack Ryan, Jr.
Jack was raised on intrigue. As his father moved through the ranks of the CIA and then into the White House, Jack received a life course in the world and the way it operates from agents, statesmen, analysts, Secret Service men, and black ops specialists such as John Clark and Ding Chavez. He wants to put it all to work now-but when he knocks on the front door of "the Campus," he finds that nothing has prepared him for what he is about to encounter. For it is indeed a different world out there, and in here . . . and it is about to become far more dangerous.

Yup, actual Tom Clancy. Not the "OP Center" type stuff.

I was there until '2 brothers and their cousin...' Is Tom running out of ideas or what?? It wouldn't bother me a bit if he came up with a new character.

And how about the end of Executive Orders, where the mid-east dictator realizes what's about to happen and tries to make it out the door, but doesn't quite make it. :):)

I've wished for years that the U.S. would do stuff like that. Bush seems to be leaning in that direction. :D
RE:Todd 08-12-2003, 08:40 PM Can I read it when you're done with it??
