: Dana44 drum brake inconsistancies

Here is the lowdown: Jeep J4000 rear Dana44 (5 lug). Cut down to 62.5, shafts converted to 6 lug. Ordered brake drums for an 1982 wagoneer for the 6 lug pattern. I was assuming that the drums from the 5 lug and 6 lug would be similar (11x2)... Am I wrong :emb: or did they send me the wrong drums?

The drums I recieved have a "lip" on them which is in the wrong place and hits against the brake backingplate. I am unable to put the drum all the way on, so they obviously wont work.

So what I am asking, is do I really need to go out and find the brake assembly made for that pattern, or did the parts store goof up? Is there a difference in the 11x2 assemblies for pre 1980 and post 1980 models?

Thanks for your help... I can't believe little things like this are what get to you the most!
