1970cruiser 09-09-2001, 05:10 PM Well I got my 3spd trans case rebuilt and when I took off the e-brake it was filled with grease and did not work well. My question is what other options are there for e-brakes. I want a disc one but man-a-free does not sell them anymore. It would be cheaper to buy their disc brake rear kit that comes with a parking brake built in. It's half the price and you get rear discs in the process. wngrog 09-10-2001, 06:00 AM I would convert to rear discs and use Eldorado Calipers w/built in E-brakes. That, or a line lock. Hell, that e-brake on the transfer case barely works when it is fully rebuilt! TWRECKS 09-12-2001, 10:12 AM Actually, I find that the stock parking brake, when properly dry and adjusted, works quite well. You may need only to stop the oil leak (a new output shaft oil seal, maybe a speedy-sleeve) and put on new shoes. Luddite Dyche rabid 09-12-2001, 12:47 PM The factory one works well, but I have replaced it two or three times in my 8 years of cruiserdom, and like the rest of the cruiser braking, is manually adjusted- often. It is not a bad setup, but it gets pretty marginal on steep hills, even new. That being said- it is still in mine,and works well enough for me to not really think about replacing it yet.
