Just finished a PS setup and want to get a smaller stering wheel. I have checked out some Grant wheels but I am not sure if they offer an adapter kit that will work. What have some of you guys used that worked?? I'm open to any suggestions....

Thanks

I used a 13" (I think) Grant wheel and adapter (#3593)on my 78 after I converted to PS. Kragen even has them in stock for $16. You may not be able to use the same one on your 71. You could always swap out your steering shaft for a later model one and then use the Grant adapter.

You shouldn't have to change the steering shaft. Grant makes an adapter that fits 73-75 (not sure of the exact years}that will fit your steering shaft. The problem with the kit is that the horn configuration is different and the turn signals will not cancel. If you change to a later year shaft you will still have the same problem. You can change to a different column or you can do like I did. I modified the adapter hub by drilling it for pins to cancel the turn signals and just mounted a horn button on the column. If the horn location is too hard to get used to just use your finger.

I took the wheel out of a Toyota mini truck and use it in my 79 FJ40. It is a bolt in deal. All you need to do is shave the plastic cover a little on the cruzer column to prevent the back ot the wheel rubbing. (2 seconds on a belt sander)
Great size and you still have the Toyota symbol... Looks stock.

Also cheaper than a grant :D
