I know you guys are supposed to rotate your knuckles when doing this so I thought you could help a truck guy out....
Got a toy front axle from superrunner after his dana swap. He got the knuckles rotated 14* kinda high to me but what the hell. Looking at it and the homemade perches are done ok but drilled forward. I will change that. What I am running into as a conflict is the inside pass. side mount. I have a flip kit that runs 3/4 inch u-bolts <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> But regardless I run into the housing on the inside so I have a flat place where I cannot just turn the ubolts virtical. The one sits almost // instead of ll I am thinking of getting one and bending it all fubar but don't know about the strength or holding strength for the springs. what have you seen done and how did it work in the long run? I want to keep the flip kit....

14 us alot..mine in the front mounted with u-bolts bult needed to control axle wrap...did that with a couple of tabs from spidertrax....pics if you got them....not sure about the ??u-bolts..

What are you installing this axle on? An FJ-40?

The problem I see is that 14* will make you have a driveline problem, because you will have a long driveline in the front. You may end up needing a CV joint on the Axle end to mke this work or use a mini-truck u-joint.

Jess from High Angle sold me a mini-truck ujoint that runs at angles up to 45*, but it vibrates like a bitch! No prob on the fortn though.

As for bending your Ubolts, just make sure you have 9/16 or bigger ubolts and giddy up! Just heat bend and cool fast to keep as much strength as you can in the bolt.

The question I have is that if you are doing a spring over, why do you need to have these big ass Ubolt plates?

I am a truck but knew this was the area of expertece. I have a crawler so I have a long jessy tyle driveline. Don't think it will give me angle probs cuz of my setup now has really low pinion angle. So survey (and archives) says that heat bending the u-bolt (3/4thick cuz I wanted to go BIG) to fit right. Do i bend both sides in the middle or the front in half and the rear at the base?
