: D20 Rebuild Kits

Anyone have a great place to get EB D20 bearing, seal and gasket kits?

I found JBG has one for $90. My intermediate shaft looks fine, so I don't think I'll be replacing that.

Anyone hear anymore about the upgraded outputs? What's the truth about the Scout shafts fitting and being stronger?

Can a 26 spline output from a JEEP D20 fit in an EB D20?

I know I can get 2wd low with the stock t -shifter, but if I twin stick it, does it have interlocks that need to be removed, or can I just move the shift rails independently anyway?

Any good sources of teardown, rebuild/torque specs? Haynes or Chiltons? Coke or Pepsi?

Oh yeah, one more question...... can the front and rear yokes be interchanged, I need CV in the rear and regular in the front.

Thanks,

Charly

The stock answer I have been hearing is no they are totally different, however on another thread welndmn has picts of the two it appears the only real difference is that the EB shaft is machined to accept the needle bearings that fit between the input and output shafts. where the jeep/scout input shaft is different having a bearing to support the input shaft to the case so the output doesn't have that bore for the roller bearings. I am going to bore out his shaft. He want to omit the needle bearings but I think they are needed, or at least a bushing like some of the dana 300's had. So no it doesn't bolt in but I think it can be made to work. I may know in a week or two. I can get the jeep output shafts new for $80, a 26 spline yoke is probably $40 or so and the machine work is TBD depending on the need for that bearing. I am not sure what the heat treat on those shafts is but I have heard that the hardness on the ford ones is very inconsistent. If the material is not very hard we could gain some strength by induction hardening them too.

I personally don't know about their shafts, however, their self complementing write up on their shafts sold me. If you're going to rebuild it, why not do it right? Aslo you asked earlier about swapping a Jeep shaft into a EB case. Novak has a part interchange chart and so does this site to a limited degree Some site (http://www.off-road.com/jeep/tech/convxfer/2.46-20/) . BTW, if you need to get rid of that Bronco Dana 20 because it's such a piece of crap, just let me know I'll do you a fovor and take it off your hands.:flipoff2:

Good luck
