I just picked up a used front CV driveshaft. With the CV on it is too long. I'd like to take the CV portion off and use it and I'm wondering if this possible.
The driveshaft yoke on the CV end has an extra piece, that is used to move the ball in the CV. I'm wondering if that will cause the yoke to be too long to fit in the D300.
Anyone have any ideas?

Don't take off the CV. Take it to a D-shaft shop and have them shorten it and rebalance it. It should be too much $$.

I agree with david just take it to a shop and get it shortened. Shouldn't cost more than like $100 to do and should only take the shop a couple of days to do max.

Should be more like 50 to shorten it since they can reuse everything.

I know it is only $50 to shorten. This is the deal though. I will be putting in a SRS and 4" lift in the spring. The way the shaft is now with the CV on it will be prefect after the lift. For now though, with the CV it is too long. W/o the CV it is perfect. That's why I'm wondering if the special CV yoke will intefere with the D300 yoke.
