: Removable steering wheels?

I need to install one in the 40 to make entry and exit a little easier after the install of the new cage. I am still running the stock steering column and was wondering what my options are. I know that Grant has a removable kit but so they hold up? I seem to recall someone saying they had stripped the adapter for a Grant wheel while wheeling. Let me know.:D

The Grant one is more of a theft deterrent. You'll have to unlock it to remove it and unlock to put it back on. So that will get old quick for you. With that said, I'm using the Grants and have no issues with them. I have heard a lot of people complain about their adaptor and I believe it. If you look at it, it's flimsy. But the removable gadget thingy they sell (forgot the name of it) is pretty beefy. I've been running mine for a couple of years now with no problems. I hear their cheapy wheels (Challenger series maybe??), are weak too. I'm running their higher up series...(forgot the freakin name for that too!!) are much stronger. I remembered it retailed for like $170something for the wheel, but I got it for like $50, that's why I bought it....

Does anyone make a quick release steering wheel setup for a Jeep wrangler? Or does anyone know which hub would work? Thanks

Sloan, you can buy the $24.95 one from summit that has a pin. Or you can get the better one from summit that has a spring loaded release plate. That one is $69.99.

That was a pretty informative site I am going to have to look into this a little more. I like the idea of removing my wheel especially in a CJ5

We use them for our race buggys and sand rails and pay around 30.00 and that is the type with a quick release pin you push in and lift the wheel off. I will post the web site for McKenzie racing as soon as I find the book. Also in Petaluma Ca. you can walk in and get them from Larsons racing $29.??

Anyone know if there is a quick release mount that will fit on a toyota steering shaft?

Thanks.

Okay so www.jegs.com has a much better solection than I have found anywhere else. Also apparently you can put a quick release on any of the Grant steering wheels but they claim that it isn't street legal.
