I have been in contact with a few folks from this BB in regards to beta testing of these dudes.
Mid January to early Feb is when I should have the tops ready to go testing in the Wet Climates!

Last hurdle for me is the upper door stops and the mounting of sides to the top.

I am going to be molding roof rack mounts into the tops as well as provisions for interior lights.

FJ 40 and FJ 45 tops will be ready for production by Early March.
Pictures SOON!

Is east Texas a wet enough climate in the winter? I may be interested in being a test bed for you.

SOunds like a neat concept.

If you want wet you need someone from the PNW to test it for you. It rains up here from October untill July.

if you want to have it tested by extremes, send one up here to Vermont, or better yet, to one of the canadians that post here. Those guys get summers of 80 degrees, winters of -10, and snow by the foot.

Hey wait a minute....so do I.

Sounds like a good idea, though. Finding stock tops (for those that run them) is getting harder and harder for those of us east of the rockies.

I've got two guys from the PNW and I offered one to a gal from Colorado.

A few more suckas for this first batch and I think I can get the bugs worked out of them, not that there will be any!:smokin:

I've got a bunch more concepts going for FJ40's and 45's too!

Pm me and I can share the stats.

Rugburn,

How hard would it be to duplicate the FJ45 SWB bed sides? I would love to build a SWB FJ45 but the beds are really impossible to find, and a steel flat bed with the molded plastic SWB bedsides attached would be killer! and hold up to wheeling better...

Anyone else interested???

Funny you should mention that cuz' Spaceghost and I were talkin' about that same issue this afternoon kickin' the new 38.5 TSL's on his Cruiser.

Let me get these tops rollin and move onto the half doors/ drop in's and move over onto the sides.

Are you looking at doing the bonnet (roof) as a stand alone piece as well as the whole HT as a unit?

Tree linbs are $%#& on fiberglass :p

Panzer,
I am doing the tops as a stand alone unit which will bolt to the existing sides as well as the sides as a lightweight bolt on. It will be a three piece unit which will replace the heavy, leaky, cavernous factory units which are 18 years old for the newest ones!

Also considering doing the sides in canvas as an option.:usa: :usa: :usa:

I've got a bunch of other concepts going on, half doors, rear flares, tranny tunnels....

the list goes on and on!

I will keep all posted!

So far in Upstate NY we have been getting plenty of rain instead of snow. I would be more than happy to test your top out for ya! We have some nice tight trails to see how they hold up against trees like a steel top does...........:D
