How does a 6x6 drive the rear axles? Do 2.5 ton military axles have an output flange opposite the input flange? I was looking at some pics on USA6x6, but couldn't quite tell what was going on.

i saw one in an old issue of 4 wheeler. there was a second drive shaft? that went over the first and then down to the second axel. Didn't look like it had very much travel. maybe some one who has it can dig up the issue

The issue you're talking about was about a home-spun Chevy with dual 14-bolts in the rear. He used some sort of funny t-case setup with 2 driveshafts. This isn't how it is normally done, though. Rockwell axles have an output flange on the back of the axle, directly opposite to the input flange. A driveshaft goes from one flange to the other. The rear setups in 18-wheelers you see on the road have something similar but not quite as compact. I also don't know how the guy with the green Jeep did it that used to pop up everywhere but doesn't seem to any more.

On the USA6x6 site it looked like there was a suspension linkage between the two axles, is that to keep the driveline angles good? Or is there other considerations for proper driveline angles?
