i went low pinion 60 because i am a cheap ass. a high pinion out of a ford 1 ton would be kick ass. and there are plenty of wrecked fords out there. so that would be my 1st choice. mike

fawk it, blow 6000 on a cusom rr60
Or a whole lot more.

I went with standard rotation low pinion but definatly shaved. Keep it cheap (fiqurativly) It's a hell of a place to start if your still breaking things.

Here what I am doing, wasn't listed so here goes. Find a donor rig with D60s, I found a 79 Ford 250 snowfighter with running motor for $900 with RC60front and D60rear. Keep them full width and run hummer rims to keep the width resonable. May have to find 16.5 tires if you're running 15s, but cheaper than a custom built axle and you can find stock spares cheap.

hey Rob
you should either run that better joint, or just put 60 knuckles on you high 9's, your axles are already setup with mounts and everything, so I would just upgrade. If it were my jeep (I would burn it), no I would find a junk 60's with good outer and start cutting and welding. You don't need to find a ford front axle, get a chevy so you can still fit the 15's on it.

Why don't you just start wheelin in 2x :flipoff2:

Well, my vote was for you to keep the axle you have and run the CTM's. They are supposed to be bullet proof, and if all you are breaking are the u joints, why spend the money on a full blown 60? I may be talking out my butt here.. but it just makes sense.. Heck, I may get flamed for this one, but I don't give a flying rats behind, Im gonna only be swapping out the rear axle when I get the cash, to probably an 8.8, and leaving the D30 in, putting TJ shafts in, along with the new 5-760x U joints from Jess, then I get rid of the vacuum disco, I have a reverse rotation axle, with the same u joint as a 44, and I didnt have to spend too much money on it.

How do people feel about scoring a RC60 front and cutting the knuckles off and putting it in the rear. Then welding the knuckles onto a Ford 9" and slapping it under the front? I hope the 9" will save me some weight up front since the big block is heavy enough. 35 spline front and rear with 60 joints in the front. This is what I plan on doing. Has anyone else done this? Opinions?

I voted for you to buy the new spicer joints. I haven't heard of anyone breaking the 5760 joints yet. I am sure you will break them but for $45 give it a try, before you blow several thousand on the other options.
