Hey guys, I may be a newbie here, but am in IFSJA and a local one called Planet4x4.. I have a 69 J3000 with a 454/TH400/D20 for now. I'm almost finished with my 203/205 doubler, and I just found a 74 dodge D300 dually 4X4 with a dump bed for sale for $300... just needs alternator. It will be a couple of weeks before I go get it, but in the meanwhile, I've been thinking and planning on what to do. I want the D70 front and rear, and plan on using hummer beadlocks to save the trouble of switching to SWA hubs. The front D70 is a closed knuckle, and I hear mixed reviews on those. Can someone clarify just why it is that these closed knuckles are so much worse than my current D44? My second question is I am hoping that a pair of 3/4 ton axles out of another dodge of the same vintage will fit without mods so I can sell the truck with the dump bed for some more $$ to continue building my rig. does anyone know if the spring perches are the same distance?
Also, I'd like some recommendations for a few places to shop for gears at cheap prices.. not just any gear joint, but say a wholesaler or someone who gets them cheap.

the closed knuckle 70s use a tracta joint not a ujoint
they are weak when turning and are expensive to replace
like say you wanted chromolly shafts your looking like 3 k for the shafts with tracta joints
do a SEARCH on dana 70 theres plenty of tech on it its been covered many times
