: BEST gear sets?

Who makes the best gear sets in terms of strength and quality? I know DANA is probably the best, but they don’t make what I need. Precision, Motive, Superior, Yukon, and US Gear are all names I have heard. They all seem to be made of the same material, 8620 alloy, some are made in Asia, some in Italy and some in the US of A.

So what’s the scoop, some real world experience would help me make a choice to pay a bit more for one brand or another……

Andy

P.S. I need 4.88’s for a HP 44 and an 8.8, neither of which Spicer makes.

Never seen a problem with Yukon's... US's a few failures... Genuines guaranteed to bust up... Precision does make excellent stuff though...

There is no doubt, that if you have the option when purchasing gears and want the BEST you can get, this is the order from which you should pick:

1. Dana/Spicer
2. US Gear
3. Everything else :p

I wanna see some more discussion of this, I know guys that swear by spicer. but spicer makes gears for production vehicles not meant for the kinda shit we do, guys like superior make their gears w/ this in mind. I've heard the plant in spain does high quality work. I know that gears made in tawain, china etc are chit
So anyone one else have anything else to add?

I have to go with richmond gears they are the absolute Best for high power abuse, only one drawback though $$$$$$$$$ they are more dough but as the saying goes, " you get what ya pay for", Also Dana gears are in fact made for high wear and long life for "stock vehicles". They are heat treated to a harder rockwell and they don't handle alot of hard driveline shock I know this because I have broke several. just my 2 cents
