Looking at a new truck, should of or should i not?
99 350 Diesel 4 door long bed 4x4 200k auto
don't have service records but it was a tow machine (has a 5th wheel hitch) so i assume the tranny was replaced at one time.
VERY CLEAN (think an old timer owned it)
Any way it showed up at my fathers dealership, and we think i can walk away with it for 10k
So should I?
or should i spead another 10k to get something with WAY LESS miles?

Trannys are a whole lot cheaper than 10k. That engine still has 150k-200k in it. For 10k I would snap it up. My .02

trannys are cheap and the powerstroke diesel is an engine made for aprox 500K if well maintained. Have a mechanic check it out who is @ the dealership and familiar with the ps engine and see what he says about the maint. Have the dealership see if any recalls are out on it and not done if a high # then indicates poor maint. I'd get it esp for that cheap

just my 2¢

I would definately pick it up for that price, A new trans isnt' going to come close to what you would pay for a lower mileage truck. If you don't feel comfortable with the mileage then look for something else.
