: SM 465/D300 clocking problem
1MutCJ7 12-04-2001, 06:03 PM After getting under the jeep to see the clearance issues on how far I could clock my 300, I found out that I can't turn it at all.
The casing for the 465 is so big that the shift linkage for the 300 is already about a 1/4" from the tranny. The advanced adapter doesn't move the tcase out far enough away from the tranny to turn it.
So, what did you do to fix this problem or does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
Supergper 12-04-2001, 08:01 PM Yep what you do is pull them out and send them to me:D:flipoff2::D really I have no clue what to do but will really like to know since I am going to be running that exact same setup:D
AtomicBeesting 12-04-2001, 08:50 PM You can cut one of the horns off the shifter linkage. Its not used by the stock linkage
This pic is of mine..... although it was to show someone something else it's the best I could find of what I did with my shifter linkage. (ignore the red squares). Its a T18 but should be similar to yours. I took a sawzall to the linkage.... took about 5 minutes to do. Clocked about 3" higher.

clocked up 5 degrees less than level. Use a Curry Twin Stick, it mounts to only the outboard shifter tab and you cut off the inboard tab. I notched the top of the trans before I realized it could be done this way  .
Had the guys at Novak custom drill the adapter to clock the 300
1MutCJ7 12-05-2001, 08:00 AM Thanks for the info. That helps alot!
1TONTJ 12-05-2001, 08:32 AM Here is a close up or where to cut. Did this to clock it on my AX-15 (used a clocking ring though).

Then it will look like this:

Thanks for the compliment, spent a lot of time working on it :D
Still so much to do
Twin stick? Yes. I wanted the sticks to come out on the drivers side (in the existing floor hole) though, so I made my own. Here they are before final stick bending/tweaking:

1MutCJ7 12-05-2001, 02:00 PM I'm glad there is an "easy" fix to this problem. I think my tcase is a magnet to rocks right now. :D

What? I asked these guys if they'd do that and this is what they said, I figured they didn't know what I was talking about, who did you talk to there.
Hi, Andy
This adapter is referred to here:
http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/kit_453.htm
If you do have the correct spline count already (which is unlikely) the
shaft would be omitted and the plate and fasteners would be $165.
Kind regards,
Eric

Subject: NV4500 adapter Questions
Hi, I have an NV4500 I pulled out of a 97 Chev 3500, I'm planning on mating
it
to my existing Dana 300 T-case. The question is can you drill
and
tap another set of holes in the plate so I can clock my t-case? Have you
done
this before? How much would you charge me?
Jaffer 12-06-2001, 06:56 AM To mate a newer ('92+) style NV4500 to a D300 you do not need to buy a Novak or AA adapter, shaft or retainer.
Just use a Go 2 Guys clocking ring.
It provides the small additional clearance needed plus let's you clock the TC all at the same time for $195 delivered.
The earlier, deeper NV4500 rear retainer housings need no adapter at all ... it bolts right up and you can either drill the housing or drill and relocate the TC studs for a home made clock job.

I thought it would only bolt up to a dodge nv4500, mine is a chev so I don't think the splines will match. maybe I should try it before I order the adapter.

www.jeepxtremes.com sells a clocking ring called the rotator for $140. This is $55 less that the Go 2 Guys. Save some money.
