okay somewhere on this list must be the answer but I have been searching for a couple hours and really want to get into the garage and start doing some work.
I am doing a SOA on a '91 YJ and need to replace the rear main leaf cause for some reason the preveous owner broke the front mount loop thing that holds the bushing on both springs. basically the front of the rear springs just kind of floats around.

Back to my question though, Wisconsin has crappy junkyards and I can't find springs for less than $50 per so I am looking at the Whitney catalog and thinking new is better. I know they have the well known 7 leaf CJ springs that ARE military wrapped but I don't need any extra lift. they also show YJ 5 leaf and 6 leaf HD units. MY question is is the 6 leaf YJ military wrapped or not, I really like the extra wrap as it seams to work great on my XJ. I am not looking for any extra height but want a good tough spring. I hope the 6 leaf is not just a 5 leaf with an overload spring.

So please let me know whats going on here

not sure about the wrap on those..
havent seen any military yj springs..
the wagoner springs work good for a replacement
even the 1975 dodge springs will work.. you will need longer
shackels for them tho.. it will also give you a better ride with the longer springs.. there about 2 in longer than the wrangler springs.. the position from the front is right and the width is right.. just a bit longer
try that area and see what happens

I think what I am going to do is get the CJ 7 leafs, use the main leaf and the military wrapped second leaf throw the stock YJ bottom 3 leafs in and be done with it. I am not that worried about axle wrap with the SOA since there will be a traction bar I am more worried about good flex without going to high, afterall I will only be on 33's and this is my daily driver

Have you tried your local 4x4 shops? I pick up stock springs all the time for as little as $15 each. When shops do a lift kit, the old springs commonly just sit around until the shop gets them to the steel recyclers.

ALso, I just had a second, military wrapped leaf added to my packs for 60$ca a side....... I guess that's like 35~40$ us. SO that's another option, if you've got a local spring shop that will do it.
