I dont remember for sure but I think 34's will fit
Should be able to get away with 255/85R16's or 285/75R16's on the original rims, both of which are about the same diameter as tires marked "33" on the sidewall (meaning probably more like 32-32.5 true diameter). I've seen guys running 305/70's on the stock rims, but they bulge too much IMO & though wider, are no taller than the other sizes I mentioned.

My buddy had 35"s on his with the coil spacers in the front. It rubbed on the factory side step.

315/75/16 - will fit on stock truck, but rub the control arm when turning.
I plan to run these w/ 2" coil spacers and live w/ the slight rubbing.
285/75/16 - supposed to fit well. Some say they are too wide and look bulgy.
295/75/16 - skinnier than the 315, but about .5" taller than the 285. supposed to fit well.
305/70/16 - same diam. as the 285, just a little wider. supposed to fit well, although, I might worry about the center wearing out.
255/85/16 - a good option for the narrower steel rims
All of this is on the stock rim. If you move to a rim that is backspaced less, they will rub the fender instead of the control arm. Maybe there is some magic backspacing that gives the best of both worlds?

FWIW, I have aftermarket 16 x 8's, and just went from 255/85R16 Remmington Wide Brute RV's (like the Dunlop Radial Rover RV's) to Big O 315/75R16 XTs. I also run a 2 1/2" coil spacer. I haven't rubbed the 315s yet, but this truck doesn't get wheeled hard. I did have it on the beach once though, no rub. The 315s ride a lot better, but they do take more power to turn, I think some of the difference is just the XTs vs the RVs though.

i absorbed all your knowledge and ended up with:
285X75X16 MTR's
they measure 32.5" when mounted
