I managed to sneak a pic or two in the Colorado Mountains today. Looks like Volvo is going to enter the Sport/Ute hauler field, and compete with the Avalanches, Explorer Sporttracs and the new Subaru Outbacks.
It looks like there was still quite a bit of extraneous sheet metal on there, I figured it was to throw people off while they work on the final design. Also. it looks like they have figured out a way to get around that annoying door/hatchback on the back of the cab. It looks like plywood and lumber is going to be even easier to load than the others.
Sorry for the grainy picture, but I didn't have a lot of time to snap this before they came back.

I'm thinking they will more likely go the plywood route.

You're right! What kind of idiot would design a pickup truck like station wagon sorta thing and use steel bumpers? Everyone knows that huge plasticy plastic things are much more outdoorsy looking. :flipoff2:

I just looked a the pic again. Now, if I remember correctly, the volvo wagons had a one piece rear tail gate that had hinges on the roof. Kinda makes me wonder what exactly is holding that door in place. Think I'll stay about 1/4 mile behind him if I ever see that thing out on the roadway.
I also wonder if the primer is there because they are really gonna spend the time and $$ to actually paint that bad boy!

My guess is a combination of bungie cords and drywall screws!
