Should I go 93 Dodge 1 Ton 4x4 or spend more and get a 97-8 3/4ton?

Both manual but 5k more...

I would say go with the 97 I think the 93 would have a Getrag 5 speed which have been known to shit the bed regularly the 97 will have a nv4500 and will be your best bet for cheap mods you still get a dana 80 rear the and the dual and single rear d80's(in dodges) share the same spindles so the only reason your gvw is less is because of the extra two tires and bigger leaf springs I had a 93 auto and I would still have it if it was a manual trans (but the nv4500 swap would be manditory) 89-93's ride ruff and the pasenger drop t case makes 4" exhaust harder but the 60 front in the 89-93 trucks is better that in 94-02 trucks

I agree with the above plus the 97 engine is FAR more upgradable than the 93 and the 93 won't have a tach. I'd absolutely go with a 97 over a 93, well worth the money to a BOMBer like me. The creature comforts are worth it as well.

i believe that 93's are not intercooled. dont quote me on that though:flipoff2:

93's are intercooled:flipoff2: . only the 89's and a few 90's weren't intercooled. I have a 93 and a 96, so from personal experience the 96 is much easier to live with and drive daily. It has a much better extended cab, rides better, is better layed out (interior wise). neither one has had any real problems, but if I had to choose one I'd keep the 96.

Actually the intercooler was added halfway through the 1991 model year. The 93 would be a good 1st gen, having an intercooler and the smaller 18cm exhaust housing. Early intercooled engines had a huge 21cm exhaust housing that was slow to spool, making an upgrade to the 16cm housing worthwhile.

maintance seems to be cheaper tho on the 93, and there are less parts to break in the front suspension...

that said, my 96 makes a fine DD

I'd get the 98 for the 215HP P7100 injection pump. For less than 1,000 dollars you can be at 400 HP at the rear wheels with this injection pump. This injection pump will last you forever.

Yeah it's cheap to get a lot of fuel out of that baby. Unfortunately it's not as cheap to be able to use the new power. Clutch $900, Turbo $1200, Exhaust $500, Intake $250 etc. The 215 trucks I've modded would get fairly hot with a TST #10 (330hp) plate, gov. springs, 16cm exhaust housing and a timing advance......plus the clutch wouldn't hold in 5th. It's still cheap, reliable power compared to gas powered vehicles.

if it cost just that much more, thats worth it for a newer truck, get it, You will be glad you did.
