OK, here's the scoop,
I'm about ready to get the pinion brake hooked up, but i haven't decided what to do about the master cylinder. I have to use the rear side of the MS because the pinion brake will be on the rear axle, so i switched the big reservoir to the rear, and little to front.

If i only fill the rear with fluid, the fluid should push on the front piston instead of the caliper, right?

So - Should i buy a blocked fitting that stops the flow to the front, and put it in the t-connector mounted to the pass. frame rail --

Or - Is there another way to stop the front piston from moving?

What is that little 10mm bolt bolt that goes into the side of the MS? Can I tighten that to stop the front piston?


Any info Appreciated...

I think hydo force is the bet way to stop that front piston. maybee run a short 3/16" line to a cap or plug. its not anymore force than that circuit dosent see already.

how big is the cailper?
teeing both lines togeather would give you more volume?

filling the front is the easiest thing to do. but what if it leaks or breaks, then i will have no brakes at all.
The pinion brake is standard chevy 1/2 ton rotor and caliper.

I don't want to T them together, as i may convert to 4wheel discs in the future, and i will need that front brake line back again.

does anyone know what that stupid bolt is for???

That bolt is a stop, which keeps the front piston from coming back to far in the cylinder.When doing a rebuild, you must remove that bolt in order to take the front piston out.

I dont know if this will help, but the president of TLCA (Dave) is useing a master cylendar out of a Toyota celics. it is a single cup and has the same mounting pattern as the fj40. he picked it up at a bone yard for about 30 bucks.
