These were designed and built by Guyon Racing in Calgary, AB.

Pierre Guyon is a well known race car fabricator in the area. They are very well made. I was able to look one over in the shop when they were being built about 6 months ago. Very cool. Dana 30's front and rear (both steering), Honda engines, coilovers, 33" swampers.

Purty darn small. Whay not put some beefier axles under it (not much beefier - its gotta be super light), go 35s, run just the tube frame (not the body molding) and do ARCA stuff? Is there a minimum weight for ARCA type rigs?
Maybe the short wheelbase would be a problem though, huh?
A super light rig on something in the 35-37 range would get up a lot of stuff....

They are cute. This picture gives you the perspective of how small they are.

As soon as I get my tube bender, me and buddy are building some...

Why use bigger axles? That thing weighs next to nothing... and the motor is not gonna be snapping them... 30's would hold up just fine!

I have wanted one for some time - would be the coolest to trail ride in them too... :D:D:D

Bet they do a big business from these guys who like to entertain crowds during intermission at various motorsports events. Pretty cool!

Actually, I *thought* I heard they wanted to start a low-cost stadium event that had the ability of your average joe to compete - like the Tough Trucks - but run the course the big monster trucks run...

If so, I like the idea...

They want way to much for them though. 17,900 starting price  Geeez. I could buy a rockcrawler for that... easily and make it tiny if I wanted... O well none the less there pretty cool. I wonder if they have lockers?

Well its a Dana 30 on each end so you could lock it. I was just saying bigger axles cause I figure you'd need to gear it so extreme, there isn't anything better than 4.88 for the D30, I think thins thing would need to gear lower for crawling with the small engine and bigger tires.

Why bigger tires? You are talking SUPER light weight, and like an ATV, you can often push up and over obstacles that you cannot technically clear... I would think 33's would be about the bigest you would need or want

Yeah, keep the weight down. In fact, ditch those steel rims in favor of some carbon fibers. And the mud racer in me wants to put 34" TSL's up front with 33" Boggers in the back :D

OK, OK already - keep the D30s and 33s, but you gotta gear it down to crawl (since the engine is so small) somewhere (if you're rock crawling it) and 4.88 is the best you'll get for that diff.

A simple sproket and chain transfer case setup would allow you more than enough apportunity to gear down to any ratio you want.... 4:1, 5:1, etc....

Those are cool little rigs. It would be fun to tool around in one of those on the trail.

what about that crappy big foot 4-link wannabe suspension?? I don't think that's gonna flex very well....looking at the monster trucks.

I don't think "flex" is really what they had in mind. Should soak up bumps okay though :)

Oh Uncle Tim- Steven's birthday just passed ;);)

hey white knight, get your husband to take some pics of those things. also, why would you need to gear them down??? they use 1.6L 150hp honda motors with a 4 speed automatic OD tranny. ???

Sweet idea for a trail rig. Like a Assassin but smaller and CHEEPER. Looks to me like the coilovers are too stiff. Would prob flex alot better with the correct rate coilovers. Wouldent be too hard to change the links to a triangulated 4-link configuration. The only thing holding it back would be WB. I would doubt its ability to climb steep hills. The mid engine configuration wouldent help with climbs eather. The over all light weight would be nice though. Sombody should make a crawler version, with a little turbo desel.:D

Edit: I was just doing some drawings for a Mini-crawler and got to thinking, Does this thing have a t-case? you could mount a horizontaly opposed engine sideways and make the drive shafts connect directly to the tranny where the CV's would. All you would need is a flange. This would make it hard to get a good crawl ratio. THis could be a use for PORTHOLE DANA 30's :D then you could run 4.56 with a 2:1 reduction plus the, what, 6:1 of the torque converter and what ever the 1st gear ratio is would put you over 100:1 crawl.
I think you would have to set up the engine this way because the engine would be rotating backwards mounted behind the driver.
