A bar running vertical from my dash spreader to the top spreader in the middle. It would be right in back of the galss - so not legal? Worth it anyway?

so it would be like the old willys jeeps and hummers and some of the old 40's car that had the post for the front glass! Not a prob and it is a good idea if you don't mind the bar ! Just my $0.02 worth.

lucys driver I am a l.e.o. here in n.c. and I agree I dont see any problem other that your rear view mirror make sure it works and I believe you will be fine

Had not considered the rear view - but I should be able to mount it right on the bar itself - and then I'd still have it when the glass is down on the hood.
Hmmmmm
[edit] - just spoke to a buddy in a NJ shop - not happening in NJ, no way it would pass inspection, likely get pulled over - windshield obstruction - in NJ they pull people over for hanging hats from the rearview.

I would assume that it would vary state to state. I know in pa you have to have a rearview and a driverside mirror. A buddy of mine never runs a rearview and hasnt gotten puled over. He has to put it on to pass inspection.

What is this inspection you keep bringing up? Sounds like you live in the wronge state! LOL

As far as obstruction of view what about the old willys type set ups ( or does this slide by due to being factory)?

Why on earth would you want that????

I can't think of one good reason. It would decrease your forward vision markedly. And have you EVER heard of the front hoop failing???

Every year, safety and emission inspections. What a huge pain in the ass that was.

I think it would be good for a cage that uses a halo.

I have built alot of cages and even on a non-hallow it is a good idea. when I did a hard endo in my "last EB" the front bar did come down a few inches but not enough to matter unless you are my windshield.LOL But their is a point of making a cage to solid, you want it to give a little. Not if you tip over like most toy guy do on a fun weekend but when you do a hard roll like mine I want it to give a little to take some of the shock out of everything else.
