This is a stupid ass question I know but Im just wondering, Is there any thing that will replace the Np-231 case ? besides an Atalas case or a klune V, I wana replace my transfer case for cheap until I can get an Atlas but I dont want to spend a ton of money at first, I here its exspensive to clock a Dana 300 to work with an Ax-15 cause you got to get adapters, Also I wanna keep my Ax-15 tranny until I get an Sm-465 hooked to an Atlas. Any junk yard cases out there that will replace the 231?:usa:

Maybe a Dana 20 from an early Bronco? You'll still have to get an adapter. Check out Advance Adapters website.

or just keep it until you get the Atlas

for around 350.00 you can upgrade your np231 with an np242 chian set and HD output shaft......then sell the thing for 500.00 when you get your atlas......

Your better off just waiting and getting a Atlas later or go Dana 300 there suppost to be able to handle some pony's and there a dime a dozen. Of course you'd have to flip it or run a passenger side front.

After you put in the SM465 you still need to get the Adapter for the Atlas it is the same as you would get for the D300. So I would keep what you have untill you get the tranny you want. One step before you get the Atlas you might do is get the SM465+adapter+D300 and save up $2000 more for the Atlas. The only expensive parts are the adapters but you will be able to use them when you get the atlas later. Or swap in a SM465+NP205 and be happy with them untill you get an Atlas. It would one less adapter for now, but you would have to buy the other one later.

Go to the wanted board and ask for a built 231 or the parts to upgrade yours (SYE and output shaft). With that 1st gear you don't really need that much of a t-case so just upgrade yours for now.

An NP241 from a GM pick up will bolt up. There are SYEs available for 241s.
But if you want to go Atlas later on, just do a couple upgrades to your 231 till you can buy the Atlas.
